Trip Advisor – Addictive consumer orientation... a Great Site!!! tripadvisor.com is a consumer driven travel site community that is packed with traveler-supplied destination information, rating, reviews…all combined with comparative pricing & booking resources.  The site is owned and operated by Expedia, the booking site, but TripAdvisor seems to be quite independent offering a variety of booking choices.

We find Trip Advisor to be a Great Site due to it's addictive consumer orientation involving candid comments, photos and ratings.  The user follows a logical flow first selecting a destination, getting an overall review of that locale and then accesses the advice and tips provided by other travelers, just like you.  Included by reference is a  variety of articles on subjects such as transportation, things to do and the dining scene, to name just a few.  The hotel section is the most helpful for us.  Hotels are listed by their popularity, depending on the ratings and reviews posted by other travelers.  We found this approach invaluable by first sorting into a class of hotels and then finding truthful and helpful advice about the experience of other travelers staying in that exact property, including postings of their candid property photos. 

The traveler supplied content is where Trip Advisor excels.  Travelers tell it like it is.  If you want to know; what room type or floor is the best, how to avoid unfriendly staff or if the room was up to snuff, then reading these reviews will give you that and more.  These tidbits may seem to be insignificant, but to someone planning a vacation or extended business trip, this kind of inside information will help you find what you are looking for and avoid the pitfalls of relying on hotels sites. Trip Advisor allows the traveler to relate back their experiences, so that other travelers can get an honest sense of what is in store for them.  For Trip Advisor, it is all about their ability to relay truthful, reviews from one fellow traveler to another.

It is a fabulous and growing community of travel experience. We love it!
